THE GLOBALIZED CRIMINALIZATION OF CULTURAL (RE)PRODUCTION
Imagine a world where each and every person you know is being called a criminal. Imagine that you can end up in prison just for owning information or using it.
Imagine a world where retelling, rewriting or any other form of modifying songs, ideas or cultural products is forbidden.
Imagine a world where every cultural development is determinated by selfish interests of large companies.
Imposed in just a couple of years, that world is already created! With laws and the increasing number of technologies which limit the use of digital information, all your acquaintances and friends are being called criminals, just because they own a a music CD or a cassette, a copy of their favorite movie, a photocopy of a textbook, or a printed copy of a text.
WE FIGHT BACK WITH A DIFFERENT KIND OF GLOBALISATION!
The Monteparadiso Collective has just started their Netlabel, a musical label located on the Internet, where you can download all of our releases for free (http://netlabel.monteparadiso.org). In addition to being free of charge, the music is “libre” - that means that you can copy the music as many times as you wish and to whoever you wish – you can play it on radio, TV, in stores... Free and for free. All of the releases on the Monteparadiso Netlabel are licensed with one of the Creative Commons[1] family licenses. That means that no one can charge you for the use of our releases, including the infamous ZAMP.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE ON OUR LABEL?
Currently, mostly bands from Pula, but in the near future we'll release the works of bands from other cities and countries. Our current priority is to collect and release all older punk, hardcore, metal and similar bands from Pula from the 1970s, 1980s and the 1990s, making their music free to a wider audience before all copies of the releases get lost in history.
EVERYONE CAN HELP
If you would like to release the music of a band you played in, feel free to get in touch with us by e-mail at netlabel@monteparadisoNOSPAMNONONONO.hr, or by other means of contact which can be found here: http://netlabel.monteparadiso.org/bin/view/Netlabel/Contact
We don't want to limit ourselves exclusively on punk hardcore and similar music – we're interested in all music which aims to be free. Hence, we'll soon release "Kvalitetni disko bend Šuma", among others.
If you have a band that hasn't released anything yet, feel free to get in touch, too – we're also interested in new bands – the only condition is that you license your work with one of the Creative Commons licenses. We'll soon begin with a free education project, aimed to educate people who want to migrate to free licenses.

Monteparadiso Netlabel is based on the so-called collaborative tools (Web 2.0), like wiki, mailing lists etc., so the content and the design of the website can be controlled by you, too! Our website is one large work in progress, so it'll be as useful as much as the bands, volounteers, users, curious people and everyone other involved in the project want it to be. We believe that this will build an interesting community which will move the boundary between the consumer and the producer, between the musician and the passive listener. We offer you the tools, it's on you to use them!
About The New Releases
Filji di Bruno Atomiko -Maledetti Zlavi
This is the first real release of Monteparadiso Netlabel. It's a band which was originally created as a parody on Atomsko Sklonište, a band from Pula, but it's turned into a certain version of Ministry in a Pula-trash way. In their lyrics they deal with different affairs and political topics from Istria. In the song “Odio d'oliva”, they sing about the recent homophobic and xenophobic outburst of Damir Kajin, and in “Porkodio Merilin Menson” they deal with the hysteria around the Marilyn Manson concert in Arena and some wacky statements of our ex-mayor. Also mentioned is Slavi di merda and Piazza Ponterosso, which used to be the peak of the buying power of Southern Slavs... A must hear.
Enklava - Demo 1994
A short demo of a band which used to play in the early 1990s. Now it's available for you to use it freely.
Anti-Otpad - Radnički san (2000)
The legendary 2000 release for Monteparadiso Productions (CD) and Humanita Nova (MC). One of the best bands from Pula of all times, now freely available. A must-have in any collection.
